The beginnings of fascism happened as Adolf Hitler began his rise to power in 1930’s Germany. The “Fuhrer” and Trump share many ‘philosophies,’ including “tell a lie often enough and ignorant people will believe it.” Here are some others.
Never on American soil has there been a more fascist act than what happened on June 1st in front of the White House.
Trump organized a small army of our military and police. His intent was to march to St. John’s Episcopal Church for a “photo op.” Hundreds of protesters exercising their first amendment rights were in his path in Lafayette Park. Trump ordered his gestapo to fire rubber bullets and explode tear gas canisters to disperse the crowd. When he arrived at the church, he held a bible, he had never read, as the white house photographers took his picture. Attacking men and women who were exhibiting their love of country will never be forgotten and a headline in the history of Donald John Trump’s anti-American reign of terror.
In a jaw-dropping speech that amounted to a culture war bonfire, President Donald Trump used the backdrop of Mount Rushmore Friday night to frame protesters as a nefarious left-wing mob that intends to “end America.” Those opponents, he argued, are engaged in a “merciless campaign to wipe out our history, defame our heroes, erase our values, and indoctrinate our children.”
Let’s break down Trump’s lies and unfounded attacks on real Americans.
First, the protesters are far from a “left-wing mob.” the marchers are a diverse group of Americans who are demanding an end to ‘murder by cop’ of black Americans. They are honoring the Constitution by marching peacefully and are supported by 70 percent of all Americans.
Second, they have no intention of “ending America.” Just the opposite; they will fight to save America by ending Trump’s illegitimate presidency on November 3rd. Since January 20, 2017 Trump has been destroying America piece by piece with the aid of Moscow Mitch McConnell. Over the last several months he has offered absolute proof that he is both inapable and unwilling to lead our nation.
Third, his claim that real Americans want to “wipe out our history, and defame our heroes” refers to his heroes, not American heroes. Across America and in the Capitol Building efforts are underway to remove statues of men whose treasonous actions had two goals: to destroy the Union, and protect their “right” to own slaves. These are the ‘Confederate’ white supremacists who Trump most admires.
The truth, this hateful show in front of a national monument by a man who does not love his country was both an abomination and a desperate effort to alter the polls which predict the biggest loss by an incumbent president in history.
Finally, the men honored at the top of Mt. Rushmore: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Teddy Roosevelt, would all be Democrats today. Their love of country and political beliefs align with liberals, not the right-wing fascist who compose today’s Republican Party in name only.
Trump is a traitor to the American way of life, and on this 244th celebration of our Declaration of Independence, all true Americans must rededicate themselves to saving our country from the worst illegitimate president in history.
