KremlinGate and its Resemblance to Watergate

hillary-3

With every day new information about Trump’s connections with Russia is revealed. There is a great deal of similarity between what is now being called ‘Kremlingate’ and Watergate. Nixon, like Trump, was arrogant and believed that he was above the law. Nixon also fired individuals who were investigating the break-in, and his involvement in that break-in. When it was announced that Trump’s son-in-law, and closest adviser was under investigation regarding his meetings with a Russian banker, whose institution is under sanctions from the United States, and Russian Ambassador/Spy Sergey Kislyak, more questions began to arise. I have a single query; will Trump throw Jared Kushner ‘under the bus’ in the same manner Nixon did to his closest advisers?

One similarity I hope happens is that Republicans meet with Trump and encourage him to resign rather than place our nation in the embarrassment of conducting an impeachment process in the House, and a trial in the Senate.

Hillary Clinton returned to her Alma Mater, Wellesley College, Friday to give the commencement address. 48 years ago, she addressed her fellow students, and the speech became famous immediately. Our nation is facing a different challenge today. In 1969, the Vietnam War had divided our nation, and Nixon was under investigation; today we are even more divided thanks to Donald Trump.

Clinton addressed what everyone was thinking about.

“We were furious about the past presidential election of a man whose presidency would eventually end in disgrace with his impeachment for obstruction of justice, after firing the person running the investigation into him at the Department of Justice,” Clinton said as she discussed the sentiment on campus the year that she graduated.

Ms. Clinton then discussed Washington today, and our illegitimate president.

When people in power invent their own facts and attack those who question them, it can mark the beginning of the end of a free society.”

“That is not hyperbole — it is what authoritarian regimes throughout history have done,” she added. “They attempt to control reality. Not just our laws and our rights and our budgets, but our thoughts and beliefs.”

Not only is the legitimacy of the election under scrutiny, money has become part of the investigation. It has been reported that Trump and others in his circle of sinners assisted Russian oligarchs in their efforts to launder their fortunes through the purchase of American real estate. Isn’t it always true, that to find the truth, simply ‘follow the money.’

KremlinGate may force our second Republican president out of office in the last 50 years.

All I can say is, “lock him up.”
