Trump constantly bragged about the economy, an economy he failed, for three-and-one-half years. The truth is that Trump has greatly harmed our nation’s people and added trillions of dollars to the national debt. It’s difficult to accomplish anything if you spend just 15 hours a week behind your desk.
The poll, from Quinnipiac University, shows that only 44% of people approve of the way Trump is handling the U.S. economy, compared with 52% from the month before.
Prior to the invasion of Covid-19, leading economists were forecasting an even greater recession based on Trump’s failing policy of “trickle-down economics.” Trump destroyed many of President Obama’s rules and plans which placed our nation in full recovery by 2017. Trump cost the American people four million jobs in the tourist industry with his racist policies. 300,000 jobs were lost in the agriculture industry when he engaged in a trade war with China. Tens of thousand of good-paying jobs have disappeared in the green energy field as he placed his full effort into the resurgence of coal, which failed miserably.
If we look closely at Trump’s fallacious claim that 4.8 million jobs were created in June, we see noting more than another misleading statement by a failed, illegitimate president. These were men and women returning to jobs they held prior to Trump’s failure to lead our nation through the pandemic. The truth is that major corporations plan not to rehire thousands of middle management employees when all American businesses reopen. Trump will be pleased that his friends, the CEOs of major corporations, will experience increased profits without paying their fair share of taxes.
The polls don’t look good for Trump. With the exception of white males, Trump has lost every demographic. Much of the blame belongs to Fox Noise, individual hacks including Rush Limbaugh, and his own party. They are concerned with electing right-wing extremists and not with the future of our country. They support the worst of the worst including Trump, Pence, Moscow Mitch McConnell, Tommy Tuberville, Lindsey Graham, Joni Ernst, Jim Jordan, Devin Nunes, and others.
I will leave you with another repetition of facts you will never hear from the right-wing.
More than 3.5 million Americans have been infected with Covid-19 as of July 16, 2020. At least 137,319 men, women, and children lost their lives related to the virus. No other nation is close to those numbers although the United States has less than five-percent of the world’s population.
The number of deaths exceed the total of lives lost in the Korean conflict, the Vietnam War, the war in Iraq, and the continuing war in Afghanistan.
40,000 lives were lost in Korea; 58,000 in Vietnam; 4,424 military died in Iraq; and nearly 2,400 of our finest young men and women lost their lives in Afghanistan. That is a total of 104,824. This has happened in just four months. From 1941 until 1945, more than 405,000 soldiers and support groups died in WWII. If Covid-19 lasted that long, 1,647,828 Americans would die.
These numbers reveal the seriousness of this crisis; a crisis Trump has done nothing about with the exception of suggesting we drink bleach. Dead people can’t work; I wonder if he knows that?
