Trump was warned that placing huge tariffs on imports was a bad idea. In a hurried decision, he ignored the advice, and taxed imports from Europe, Japan, and China.
Almost immediately his hasty action resulted in a trade war between the world’s two biggest economies. Farmers suffered foreclosures, and retail businesses suffered. 300,000 American jobs were lost. After a 70 billion dollar bailout for farmers, the situation did not improve.
Over the last year we continued to hear from the White House that an ‘agreement was near’ between the two nations. This week Trump admitted that he has abandoned all efforts to negotiate with China.
“The relationship with China has been severely damaged. I don’t think about it now,” Trump told reporters on Friday from Air Force One when asked about the trade deal.
Instead of looking for solutions to this costly and destructive economic situation, he attacked China, blaming them for his failure to lead in the fight against an upcoming pandemic in January. He constantly told the American people the same lie, “it will go away.” The truth is that he is incapable of leading America in a crisis. He had no idea what steps were needed to fight a health emergency.
“Relationship with China has been severely damaged. They could have stopped the plague, they could have stopped it, (but) they didn’t stop it. They stopped it from going into the remaining portions of China from Wuhan province. They could have stopped the plague, they didn’t,” Trump said.
No one expects Trump to take the blame for his own failures, he never does. The truth is in the statistics. No other nation comes close to the numbers experienced in America. Other nations had leadership.
As of today, Saturday, July 11, 2020, the United States has experienced 3.1 million cases. The number of deaths related to Covid-19 exceed 130,000. In comparison, in China, where the virus first began, there have been nearly 85,000 cases, and deaths remain at 4,641. Our nation has a population of nearly 330 million. China’s population was 1.393 billion in 2018.
When Trump fails, and this is a frequent occurrence, the American people suffer. Since March of this year, Trump has failed to address three major crises.
The coronavirus is surging, and America remains in ‘stage one.’ Moronic Republicans continue to place the American people in danger with the sole purpose of obeying Trump’s demands to reopen all American business, and two days ago our public school system. He is the “profit before people president.”
Protests demanding social justice for black Americans continue. Trump does not support the Black Lives Matter Movement. Instead, he has encouraged increased violence against the protesters by law enforcement. He ignores the fact that 70 percent of all Americans support law enforcement reform.
Most recently the American people learned that Trump was made aware of a bounty program in Afghanistan. The Taliban would be paid for every death of an American soldier by the Russian GRU spy agency. Although this is an act of war, Trump ignored the contents of the President’s Daily Brief in March of 2019. There is now a paper trail that this Russian attack on America continues and was revealed by the New York Times and CNN. Trump is calling it a “hoax.” He would never upset his puppeteer. 330 million people are of no importance to him.
