One thing we can Rely on in the Trump Administration; if they Speak or Tweet they have Zero Facts and are Lying

William Barr is not America’s Attorney General, he is Donald Trump’s puppet. He is mimicking Trump’s baseless claim that mail-in voting would result in fraud.

When asked if he favored mail in voting, he said: “Personally, no. I mean, we just mailed out checks under this program. And what is it? I heard something like 20 percent or something were misdirected,” Barr said, referring to stimulus checks sent out by the federal government as part of a coronavirus relief package.

Barr said that he thinks the same thing can happen with mail-in ballots.

“I know things can happen like that,” he said. “Because I know people move, a very high percentage in the United States, people move all the time. And I also know that you can easily take things out of mailboxes.”

Let’s look at these lies closely. If you have ever filed an absentee ballot, you understand the high level of security involved.

First, if the respondent has moved, the ballot cannot be delivered to the former address. Second, theft from mailboxes is rare. Over the last three decades an increasing number of “community mail boxes” have been installed. Only one person with a key can access the mail from a single address. Third, the security measures required to return the ballots are almost extreme. Throughout the history of absentee voting, voter fraud is virtually non-existent.

Attempting to compare the failures involving stimulus checks is the fault of this administration which failed to ensure the process was secure. This is the responsibility of the executive branch of our government; it’s called “oversight.” Sadly, Trump lacks a single qualified member in his administration. Where was Steve Mnuchin? Probably playind with his trophy wife.

What Trump and Barr fear is that voting by mail would reduce voter suppression; suppression by intimidation. Red states continue to reduce polling places in areas which are primarily occupied by minorities.

I was in management during the 2010 Decennial Census. This year, when I received my form, I was impressed and also disappointed that this was not the situation 10 years ago. It was quick, easy, and secure to log in and complete the short form. This is how we should all be allowed to vote.

While I’m at it, the Electoral College is corrupt and should be repealed. Every vote must count, especially in a presidential election. We must end the corruption in Washington which begins at the top.
