Will our Government Do the Right Thing and Once and for All Cease Honoring the Enemies of our Nation?

Our government and our people must cease glorifying the leaders of the Confederacy who attacked our nation during the Civil War. Not only were these men in favor of the continuation of slavery in our nation, they were seeking the destruction of the Union, which is treason by any definition. Monuments celebrating their involvement in what can only be described as an insurrection must be removed from our nation. Treason is treason, regardless of the efforts of southern states to make fallacious claims that they are part of our history.

The objection of black Americans to these monuments and statues are justifiable. All of these men displayed a hatred and opposition to equal rights for men, women, and children who were forced to live in a nation without their consent.

The most egregious offense of humanity begins with its claim to be superior to others. Black men and women who were forced to come to the ‘new world’ were subject to racism and bigotry beyond our imagination. Not their ancestors or those of us who considered slavery our nation’s greatest crime against humanity can accurately assume to understand the misery, terror, and hopelessness of the men and women who were not accepted as equals in our nation based on the color of their skin. The subjugation of black men, women and children in our new nation was flawed with hypocrisy. No human being is without sin, and out founding fathers were human.

Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, is calling for the removal of statues celebrating the leaders of the Confederacy from our nation’s Capitol. She is not wrong. Honoring the men who sought the destruction of our nation was an action taken by a government which feared reprisal from the men who continued to support the Confederacy. They ignored the truth: racism had not been defeated in states which supported slavery and the demise of the Union. It continues today.

I have no doubt that the House will vote to remove the edifices to slavery, but Moscow Mitch’s racist, Republican dominated Senate will not support black Americans.

Your illegitimate president, who is the confirmed leader of white supremacy in America, will oppose any action which would destroy the legacy of his heroes.

Trump as Hitler

“It has been suggested that we should rename as many as 10 of our legendary military bases such as Fort Bragg in North Carolina, Fort Hood in Texas, Fort Benning in Georgia, and the list goes on. These monumental and very powerful bases have become part of a great American heritage and a history of winning, victory, and freedom. The United States of America trained and deployed our heroes here and won two world wars,” the president wrote in a tweet and later told reporters via White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany.

“Therefore, my administration will not even consider the renaming of these magnificent and fabled military installations. ,,, Our history as the greatest nation in the world will not be tampered with. Respect our military.”

As long as these Republicans in Name Only are allowed to control the future of our nation, fascism will destroy democracy in America. Trump and Moscow Mitch must not be allowed to destroy the legacy of America. The entire right-wing, including Fox News, has become the enemy of the American people.

We are engaged in a war. The very existence of America is in jeopardy. You are being challenged by a small but powerful group of greedy and self-serving politicians.

The right-wing fears the truth. Our nation is becoming more diverse than sociologists expected. America is becoming more beautiful and more colorful with every year. Fear is the emotion which dominates Trump, his party, his cult, and his white supremacist supporters.

On November 3rd the American people will decide if serving a fascist is acceptable or if the Constitution is the greatest document ever written. This revolution is yours to win or lose.
