House minority leader, Kevin McCarthy lies his huge derriere off on Meet the Press Sunday. He claims that impeachment of Donald Trump is simply ‘an effort to undo the 2016 election.’ I have several points which are based on fact, and no, I won’t apologize to this ignorant Republican in name only for telling the truth.
First, the 2016 election should have been undone the minute we learned that Russia succeeded in altering our election. Politicians continue to claim that the interference by Russian agents did not change the results; they’re lying.
Trump did not win the vote of the American people; the popular vote went to Hillary Clinton. The states which gave him 270 electoral votes; Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin; gave Trump the win by less than 80,000 votes, total. Russia’s efforts on social media resulted in a lower voter turnout than expected, and that is the primary reason we now have the worst president in history living in the White House.
This impeachment is about the Constitution; about an illegitimate president’s abuse of power. Although the primary reason Trump is facing removal from office is based on his effort to hold funding for military aid hostage from Ukraine unless they agreed to ‘find dirt on Joe Biden,’ he has attempted to obstruct justice nearly two dozen times. If President Obama had committed any of these violations even once, Republicans would be screaming for his removal from the White House. Hypocrite is the applicable word.
Read this attempt by McCarthy to misdirect the truth. It has been Republicans for the last 30 years who have denied America to have a democratic government.
“I think that democracy is too precious to think that somebody who’s not on a phone call, that cannot stand before the American public and answer the question, that somehow we would change the course of that,” McCarthy said, in reference to the whistleblower whose complaint led to the inquiry.
As I continue to say; Republicans have become the enemy of the American people. They continue to serve Trump, not we, the people.
