If we learned one thing after the death of the last real Republican, John McCain, we now know that Lindsey Graham was greatly dependent upon Senator McCain’s intellect and courage to do the right thing.
Graham is now a devoted “Trumpster.” To protect his fuhrer, he is making a failed attempt to deny a long-known fact that the Republican Party is the party of racism and bigotry.
Let’s begin with the obvious; the “wall” is racist, not necessary for border security. The right-wing must join us in the 21st century. More than 4,000 suspected terrorists have been arrested while attempting to enter our nation. With the exception of six, yes six, all were arrested when they arrived at our nation’s airports. The fact is that the “wall” is racist and nothing more than Trump’s desperate need to keep a promise to his ‘basket of deplorables.’
The following is Graham’s fallacious statement.
“We’re having to negotiate with people who want to abolish ICE, not support ICE,” Graham said on CBS’ “Face the Nation” Sunday. “We’re having to negotiate with people who see border patrol agents gassing children, rather than defending our borders as professional law enforcement officers.”
This was a response to Nancy Pelosi who appeared on “CBS Sunday Morning.”
Pelosi: “The impression you get from the president [is] that he would like to not only close government, build a wall, but also abolish Congress so the only voice that mattered was his own.”
The truth: ICE is a poorly trained and unnecessary gestapo-like agency. It was established in another ‘knee-jerk’ reaction in 2003 after the unconstitutional Patriot Act was placed into law. This wasted money could have been placed where it belonged; into a better equipped and larger number of border control agents. Has anyone on the right heard about electronic surveillance and the use of drones?
Finally, let me offer a few facts, (sorry, Republicans, I know you hate these). Voter repression is solely the policy and proposal of Republicans. This is aimed at minorities. Immigration is a serious and complicated problem. Republicans resist a sensible and fair solution because they know that the majority of Hispanics vote for Democrats. Healthcare, education, and increasing the minimum wage are all issues which affect millions of minorities.
Two issues, which never should have become political, are divided between white “religious extremists” and real Americans; abortion and same-sex marriage.
If you continue to believe that Republicans are not supportive of racism and bigotry, you need to have your head examined. Really!
