Lindsey Graham, the failed Republican Senator and presidential candidate from South Carolina, is praising Trump for creating a government shutdown.
When you make a promise to the American people, you should keep it,” Graham said. “The one thing I like about President Trump ― he’s trying his best to keep his promise. He promised to build a wall, and he’s going to fight hard to keep that promise. After the caravan, if you don’t see the need for more border security, you’re blind.”
There are so many things wrong with this statement. First, Graham is a millionaire. Tens-of-thousands of hard-working government employees who are not millionaires will struggle to have a “merry Christmas.” Second, when Trump took the oath of office, he promised to serve all Americans, not just his supporters, and to “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. He has failed to do both. Third, a wall will not solve our immigration problem. This is 16th century thinking. Also, at least 50 percent of all illegal residents arrive on commercial flights from Asia, South America, Africa, and Europe. They obtained ‘visitor’s visas’ and never left. They are referred to as “overstays,” but you will never hear about this fact from the media.
Republicans don’t care about their staff and more than 100,000 other government workers who will not be paid. Congress and Trump will continue to receive their bloated paychecks.
