The headline in the Washington Post read: “Trump’s Boy Scouts speech broke with 80 years of presidential tradition.” When has Trump once followed tradition? I see it another way; Trump is clinically insane.
If you did not hear excerpts from Trump’s speech in West Virginia last evening, let me sum it up. Trump continued to bash Hillary Clinton, and talk about loyalty. That’s about it. He lives in the past, and unless I am mistaken, he is your illegitimate president. He won the Electoral College.
This 80 year long tradition found former presidents talking to these young men about service, citizenship and global diplomacy.
Harry S. Truman extolled fellowship: “When you work and live together, and exchange ideas around the campfire, you get to know what the other fellow is like,” he said.
President Dwight D. Eisenhower invoked the “bonds of common purpose and common ideals.” And President George H.W. Bush spoke of “serving others.”
Early in the evening it appeared that Trump might follow presidential tradition; for the first time.
“Who the hell wants to speak about politics when I’m in front of the Boy Scouts?” he said.
However, he quickly returned to being Donald Trump. His long and boring 35 minute speech contained braggadocio when he talked about the size of the crowd, (which was likely larger than the crowd at his inauguration). He levied attacks at both President Obama and Hillary Clinton. He slammed the legitimate news as he once again called it ‘fake news.’ He threatened to fire Tom Price, his Health and Human Services Director, if Trumpcare does not pass in the Senate today. And he told them that our nation could ‘use a little more loyalty;’ obviously referring to his continuing complaints about AG Jeff Sessions.
In other words, it was another Trump rally. It contained hate speech, but for once did not incite violence; probably.
Trump and I are 71 years of age; our birthdays are three weeks apart. However, that is our only similarity.
Trump is revealing a growing form of mental impairment. Either senility is taking control of his thought process, or his temperament has reached a level which has resulted in schizophrenia. He is not normal.
Time for Donny Boy to be retired and sent back to his golden tower where he can watch cable television, eat junk food, and golf whenever he chooses. He’s had enough of this ‘pesky little job’ which takes him away from his life of luxury and debauchery for hours at a time. I doubt that he’s had a chance to grab one crotch in six months. Sad; so sad.
Please re-post; thank you.
