I share your feelings and feel like Trump has been in office for years; long years. The truth is that today marks six months; six months of the most dysfunctional presidency in American history. His many, many campaign promises have been forgotten as he stumbles through criminal investigations. Let’s look at what he hasn’t accomplished since his inauguration.
“Obamacare. We’re going to repeal it, we’re going to replace it, get something great. Repeal it, replace it, get something great!”
Trump promised this would happen on ‘day one.’
When the creation of the Affordable Care Act began, President Obama asked for input from members of both parties, and asked for the counsel of medical professionals outside of government. The process took eleven months and consisted of 2,500 pages. Trumpcare was rushed in just a few months and the only individuals involved in its composition were white, male Republican politicians; a totally partisan attempt which failed miserably. Now Trump’s plan is to repeal Obamacare without a replacement.
Trump still wants to build his ‘wall,’ but now he wants it to be transparent, so those walking on the United States side are not ‘hit on the head with 50 to 60 pound bags of drugs.’ Really?
This wall will not succeed; either in its construction or its effectiveness. Major drug cartels do not walk across our borders. Trump’s ignorance fails him once again.
He is attempting to deport nearly 12 million men, women, and children, without any plan to solve our immigration problems. This is a human rights travesty; as is his presidency.
Trump’s Muslim ban is not only unconstitutional, it is foolhardy. Although the Supreme Court has allowed small portions of it to temporarily remain, it is an overall failure.
Promising to ‘drain the swamp,’ and make government work more efficiently was a joke from its very beginning. Trump knows nothing about government, and therefore had no plan to improve the efficiency of government. Trump has created a bigger ‘cesspool’ as his practice of partisan politics only, has failed the American people. What made the American government successful in the past was spirited deliberation and eventual compromise; that is democracy, and democracy is non-existent in the Trump administration.
Trump claimed that our trade agreements with China were slanted too far in their direction. He hasn’t talked about trade, but the escalation of a hostile environment with North Korea has strained our relationship with a nation we need for future monetary agreements and to maintain world piece.
A final note about China. Ivanka Trump was granted a large business arrangement with China when President Xi Jinping visited Mar-a-Lago. That is our entire policy on China.
It could be said that Trump kept his promise to negotiate better relations with Russia. However, how and when did these negotiations begin? What part did Russia play in our election process, and how many in Trump’s staff colluded with them? How long has Trump been a ‘Russian asset?’ Vladimir Putin is the only world leader to whom Trump has offered his praise and his loyalty.
“We’ll win so much you’ll get tired of winning.” So, when does the winning begin and the losing stop?
Please re-post; thank you.
