The NRA is Pleased to have a President who Promotes Violence

Friday morning a crowd of protesters rallied in front of the NRA headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia. They were there to say that the NRA is racist and incites violence against women and minorities. A recent video distributed by the gun lobby appears to encourage violence against non-whites and women.

In 2015 there were 372 mass shootings. In 2016 there were 477. Since Trump received the Republican nomination in July of 2016, hate crimes have risen approximately 800 percent in America. The NRA is celebrating. Every instance of violent action results in increased gun sales. This is its only purpose. This billion dollar industry has flourished because an organization which once taught gun safety and proper use now has a single purpose.

Now for the most nauseating statistic of all. Nearly 1,300 children under the age of 17 die from gunshot each year. Loaded guns left accessible to minor children are discharged by them or other children and the result is all too frequently the death of another child, an adult, or themselves from self-inflicted wounds.

Until 1976, the NRA offered advice to gun owners which would prevent 1,300 deaths each year. It was simple; store all unloaded weapons and ammunition in separate locked areas in the home. It no longer supports this idea. Every time an American is killed by a gun, especially when the situation is a mass shooting, gun sales soar.

America is the only country in the world where these statistics occur. Our gun laws are far too liberal. The entire Republican Party supports and is supported by the NRA. These cowardly and uncaring men and women believe that mentally ill Americans should be allowed to legally purchase these weapons of mass destruction. They also support the legal sale of weapons to Americans who are on the Homeland Security ‘no-fly’ list. They cannot fly on commercial aircraft, but they are allowed to purchase assault rifles.

Around the world America is known as the most violent nation in the world. This must stop. This is insane. All of this has been created by the use of fear tactics. Fear has replaced hope in America, and that is one reason why we will never be a great country. For an entire party, profits for gun manufacturers and gun sellers takes precedence over the safety of the American people. Republicans have a single motto; “profit before people.”

The American people are at war with its Republican controlled government. But we have the ultimate weapon; our vote. Please use it in November of 2018; and please re-post; thank you.
