On Friday, Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will have a ‘battle of wits’ at the G20 Summit. The problem is that Trump is unarmed. Putin is a former upper level KGB operative, and Trump is a failed businessman whose only method for negotiation is bullying his adversaries; he will not be able to bully Putin.
Putin is “professionally prepared to try to manipulate people,” said William Burns, a former U.S. ambassador to Russia under Republican President George W. Bush and now president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. “He will come well-equipped, and it’s important that we do that too.”
The White House has revealed that Trump is ‘not prepared;’ he plans to ‘see how it goes.’
Trump will likely promise his puppet master that the sanctions now placed on Russia will be removed. However, Congress has passed rules which will prevent Trump from serving his handler.
I’m certain that Trump will thank Putin for assisting him in defeating Hillary Clinton in the election. They will surely celebrate ‘behind closed doors,’ and have few laughs at our nation’s expense.
All jokes aside, this meeting will decide where America’s place in the world will stand. Russia and China are establishing a closer relationship today than at any time in history. Although the United States has maintained a reputation as the ‘most powerful nation in the world,’ this could change very soon.
Add to that, the fact that Trump has weakened our relationship with our closest allies, and America is in great danger of standing alone in the world.
Our nation’s primary diplomatic agency, the State Department, is dangerously understaffed. Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, is woefully inexperienced, but he is a close professional and personal friend of Putin’s. We’ll have to wait and see what that will bring.
These are strange and scary times. Our nation’s leaders are incapable of performing their jobs, and our nation’s people have good reasons to be nervous.
This G20 Summit could be as big a disaster as the election of Donald Trump.
Please re-post; thank you.
