Most American voters are uninformed. When they cast their ballots they vote based on one of three reasons, and none of them are valid. First they believe what they see and hear on television. Attack ads, or lies from FOX Noise, the Republican propaganda machine, are blindly accepted without question; a fatal mistake. Secondly they know nothing about the candidates, and select their choice based on whether an “R” or a “D” is next to a name. Their third reason for selecting a candidate comes from the individual. The perfect example is Donald Trump who simply ‘told his supporters what they wanted to hear.’ Everything he said was a lie, and angry and ignorant men and women chose to believe him, although he never offered a single realistic manner in which he would accomplish his promises.
This is why Washington is dysfunctional today. This is why Republicans are in control of our government and fail the American people on a daily basis. This is why special interests are protected and supported while the working class is ignored. If you choose your representatives in Washington based on any of these three ludicrous reasons, you failed yourself, your family, and your friends.
America is laboring under the rule; the oligarchy; of 536 men and women who place themselves, and their parties ahead of our nation’s people.
Let’s use the example of a current event which will affect millions of Americans and will require one-sixth of our nation’s economic resources; healthcare.
When the Affordable Care Act, colloquially known as ‘Obamacare,’ was signed into law on March 23, 2010, every informed and intelligent American was aware that it was far from perfect. I called it ‘a beginning.’ Beginning on that very day, March 23rd, 2010, Republicans criticized the law without offering an alternative. Eleven months of discussion and disagreement produced several success, such as the ability for 30 million Americans who previously were without medical insurance an opportunity to receive coverage. 131 American with preexisting conditions would be able to receive assistance allowing them to afford treatment and medication which would literally save their lives. Subsidies would allow low-income Americans to obtain affordable coverage, and the impoverished and those with very low income levels would receive assistance through an expansion of Medicaid.
The senate is prepared to vote on its version of Trumpcare, which would repeal and replace Obamacare; a constant Republican mantra. This bill would destroy most of what was successful in Obamacare.
Here’s my real point. Why don’t we have the same universal healthcare the citizens of Canada, and western Europe receive? The answer is twofold. The arrogance of congressmen in Washington and their support for the one-percent, will not allow an entire party to place the American people in priority one. Secondly, taxes would be increased to pay for free healthcare for all. Although this system is favored by most citizens in other nations, the very thought of raising taxes is taboo in America. Our government is willing to hand the Pentagon hundreds of billions of dollars each year; more than one-half of which goes to waste, but they will not consider returning tax money to the people in the form of social programs.
America stands alone in its continual efforts to reduce the quality of life for the majority, while increasing the wealth of the one-percent. And it’s all the fault of the voting public.
This must change or the dreams of our founding fathers will be dashed. Capitalism has failed the working class. Our government has failed the working class. Our current illegitimate president has proven by his actions that he hates the working class.
We can change everything if we vote intelligently and select candidates who will work for us, our families, and our friends. The revolution must continue, and it must be brutal.
Please re-post; thank you.
