What was the Intention of our Founding Fathers when they Created our Government?

A democratic republic is both a republic and a democracy. A republic is: a sovereign state whose ultimate power rests in its citizens entitled to vote who elect representatives to wield that power.”

Okay, I’m going to be very blunt here. If you believe that the definition above in any manner describes Washington today, you know nothing about our government. With Republicans in control, we, the people, have zero representation in our nation’s capital. They have been “bought and paid for” by the one-percent of wealthiest Americans.

Here are some of the issues important to all Americans today, and what our congressmen are doing about them.

A poll taken last year revealed that 61 percent of Americans support same-sex marriage. One of the goals of all Republicans is to prevent same-sex marriage. This is primarily based on the unconstitutional support of the Christian religious right. Republican vice-president Mike Pence signed the first anti-same sex law into effect in Indiana.

88 percent of Americans support sensible immigration reform with a path to citizenship; including 80 percent of Trump supporters. Your illegitimate president and his party will vote against the American people and either deport nearly 12 million men, women and children, or allow them to stay without legal residence and remain in limbo. The one-percent does not want to pay minimum wage, or contribute to social security and Medicare.

Income inequality poses the greatest danger to the future of American life. 61 percent of the American people believe that the super-rich pay too little in taxes. However, Trump and his party continue to pass tax cuts which benefit only the one-percent, including Trump.

Women receive 80 cents for every dollar paid to a man. 79 percent of Americans support equal pay in the workplace, but not Republicans. Including female representatives and senators, they have voted against every issue which would benefit America’s women.

Republicans lie when they claim that raising the minimum wage would cost jobs. That has never happened in history. 71 percent of Americans support a raise in the federal minimum wage standard. To ensure that the bloated profits of the one-percent continue to grow, Republicans refuse to vote in favor of the wishes of most Americans. Many believe that no minimum wage should exist at all.

Only 36 percent of Americans support Donald Trump, but Republicans blindly rally behind his every demand including Trumpcare which has only a 17 percent favorability rating.

Trump continues to seek a ban on Muslims entering the United States, and his hypocritical party supports him. 60 percent of the American people are opposed to his 120 day ban from six nations.

I could go on and on but I hope you ‘get the picture.’ Republicans do not represent the vast majority of the American people. Although our founding fathers intended government to represent the needs and wishes of the American people, they do not. America has become an oligarchy; “a small group of people having control of a country, organization, or institution.” Under Trump’s rule, it is moving towards a plutocracy; “government by the wealthy,” which can only operate under fascism.

Only a revolution supported by most of our nation’s 320 million people can reverse this situation and return control of our country to the people. Capitalism has failed, and we are suffering for that failure.

Be independent; vote for those who will only vote for you.

Please re-post; thank you.
