On Monday, Trump was very depressed. He called a cabinet meeting, not to discuss the needs of the American people; not to seek guidance for upcoming legislation; the purpose was to make him feel better; to soothe his fragile ego. And when I read about it on Monday, I laughed. The best comedy writers on late night television could not have created this farce. With every passing day it appears that the only purpose of the entire White House staff is to insure that Trump does not suffer from insecurity. Is he in advanced stages of senility, or is he a paranoid schizophrenic?
Analyzing Trump’s cabinet one-by-one, this is the least qualified group ever assembled to act as top advisers for this illegitimate president. As each member took his or her turn gushing praise for Trump, the fairy tale of “The Emperor has no Clothes” moved to the forefront of my mind.
Prior to Donald Trump, a president’s cabinet had a single purpose; to advise America’s leader. The term ‘advise’ is twofold; to either affirm a policy or proposal or to disagree and offer an alternative solution. Trump’s despicable cabinet will never disagree with their ego-maniacal president; they would be fired instantaneously.
Pence said the “greatest privilege of my life is to serve as vice president to a president who’s keeping his word to the American people.” Department of Health and Human Services chief Tom Price said, “I can’t thank you enough for the privileges you’ve given me and the leadership that you’ve shown.” And White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus topped them all, thanking Trump “for the opportunity and the blessing that you’ve given us to serve your agenda and the American people.”
This ‘groveling’ sets the tone for all future meetings of Trump’s deplorable cabinet. There will be no discussion, every member will simply ‘rubber stamp’ his ambitions, whether they are Constitutional or not.
This administration would be laughable if it was not so disastrous for the American people. Not a single man or woman who works in the White House is qualified to step through the front doors; including their illegitimate president. Scott Pruitt, Betsy DeVos, Steve Mnuchin and others are opposed to the agencies they now lead. Trump dislikes working men and women, and is making concerted efforts to harm their daily existence while gifting the one-percent with increased tax breaks.
As Trump would say; “sad, so sad.”
