Bernie Sanders: “Democrats Lost the Election”

Bernie Sanders was speaking to a packed crowd in Chicago. He continues to spread his message; and it is perfect and it is truthful.

“I am often asked by the media and others, ‘How did it come about that Donald Trump, the most unpopular presidential candidate in the modern history of our country, won the election?'” he offered teasingly as chants of “Bernie would have won” filled the hall.

“My answer is that Trump didn’t win the election, the Democratic Party lost the election,” Sanders said.

Senator Sanders is not wrong. However, I do wonder what would have happened had James Comey refused to announce a re-opening of the investigation just 11 days before the election, and Vladimir Putin had not colluded with the Trump campaign. The reality is that in the three states which gave him the Electoral College, the difference was a minute 74,000 total votes.

Senator Sanders message is valid; in order to change America, the Democratic Party must change. Although it will never lose its principles like the GOP, it must return to the party of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Leaders must become more aggressive, and speak directly to the working class. Younger Americans, millennials, must learn that their future depends upon them. They are the single largest voting bloc in America. Most importantly, the party must cease moving to the right and become unified in a progressive effort to care for the great majority. The one-percent has had their time; it’s time for us to enjoy the benefits of living in the United States.

Democrats must also exhibit stronger support for minorities and women. Talk is cheap, and although today America is the most diverse nation in the world, it will be far more diverse in 20 years.

Independents and Democrats must be proud of their beliefs; their principles. We should support progressive candidates in 2018 and 2020; we must vote and encourage others to do the same.

I have a dream. America could finally become great. What would it say to the majority of Americans and the world if in 2020 the nominee of the Democratic Party was a 40-year-old black woman? And what if she was a member of the LBGTQ community? And what if she was a Muslim or even an atheist? That would truly be American.

Please re-post; thank you.
