For nearly seven months I have been trying very hard to find something good about the illegitimate election of Donald Trump. My disappointment and disgust shrouded my thought process. When I awakened this morning, I read a story which renewed my hope for the America I love.
This may sound a little strange, but bear with me. Because Donald Trump is by far the worst president in American history, he will save our nation for the future. Along with the old, white men in his circle of sinners, his antiquated and failed policies will change America forever. Never again will someone like Donald Trump be elected to the presidency.
Beginning in 2020, the American people will elect a qualified, experienced, and moral man or woman to lead our nation. The mistake millions of voters made by electing a white supremacist, who is filled with hate, and whose temperament is a danger to our nation and the world will never happen again. Never again will voters elect an senile old man to represent our nation.
The future belongs to our youth; many of whom are not old enough to vote today. Millennials are the largest voting bloc, and witnessing the evil of Trump, they will end their apathy and take our nation away from the old, white, racist men who now control our country.
It’s not just Trump who must be removed from power in Washington. His entire party has failed the working class for more than 20 years. Today’s Republican “leaders,” Mitch McConnell and lyin Paul Ryan, are traitors to the American people, and our nation’s youth is not fooled by their lies.
Friday more than 100 eighth grade students who were touring Washington refused a photo op with lyin Paul Ryan.
“It’s not just a picture,” student Matthew Malespina told ABC News. “It’s being associated with a person who puts his party before his country.”
This young man will be old enough to run for the House in just over ten years. Lyin Ryan will be gone, and his generation will be in power, rejecting the prejudice and backwards policies of past Republicans in name only.
“The point was, ‘I don’t want to be associated with him, and his policies and what he stands for,’” Matthew’s mother Elissa Malespina said.
Trump is too old and too bigoted to represent the majority of the American people. He is out of touch with the youth of America, and supports a single demographic; the one-percent.
Many of our young Americans are likely unaware that they are old enough to run for office, and change the declining future of America. To run for a seat in the House, candidates must be citizens and at least 25 years of age. A seat in the Senate requires citizenship and an age of 30. Presidential candidates are required to be natural born citizens, 35 years of age, and must have lived in the United States for at least 14 years.
How many of you fit those requirements? How many will in the next ten years?
Think about it; it’s your future and your country. You can ensure that your life will make a difference.
