In less than four months, Trump has been sued 134 times; three times more than his most recent predecessors combined. He continues the same pattern he set as a failed businessman. Trump’s attorneys are some of the busiest men in the nation. These lawsuits, filed in federal court, range from his anti-Muslim ban to charges related to his business interests. There can be no question that he has committed dozens of ethics violations.
“In a courtroom it’s not the loudest voice that prevails,” Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson (D) told the Globe. “You can’t tweet your way out the courtroom.”
With Trump as your illegitimate president, nearly everything is a first. It began with his inauguration, which had the smallest crowd since LBJ. When the final count was confirmed, Trump lost by nearly three million votes in the popular election, but was gifted the presidency by the Electoral College. On the Monday following his inauguration, he began signing executive orders. Although Trump made 38 promises to his ignorant supporters, he failed to introduce legislation which would become law. Many of his orders were struck down by federal judges, and others caused harm to the American people and to the future of our nation.
Trump became the first illegitimate president to verbally attack the press, calling legitimate news services ‘fake news,’ and biased agencies such as FOX noise, ‘real news.’ Trump has become the first president to spend more time out of the White House than behind the desk in the Oval Office. His presidency is already the least transparent in modern history. He is the first to refuse the courtesy of holding state dinners at the White House; choosing instead to entertain world leaders at his millionaires only resort in Florida. Trump is the first president to be endorsed by the Ku Klux Klan, the Ayrain Brotherhood, and the Alt-Right.
Thursday, he led his cowardly and hypocritical brethren in the House to narrowly pass Trumpcare. Trumpcare has already been denounced by every healthcare agency in America. Will he be sued when thousands begin to die each year, simply because their healthcare was taken away from them, became too expensive, or denied coverage because of preexisting conditions?
In 240 years America has survived both man-made and natural disasters, but we have never been challenged by our on president before. He is a danger to our democracy, our freedom, and to our nation’s very existence.
George Washington said: “The basis of our political system is the right of the people to make and to alter their constitutions of government.”
Abraham Lincoln instructed the American people regarding their patriotic duty: “This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or exercise their revolutionary right to overthrow it.”
It’s time for the American people to perform their civic duty and take back their nation. Our government was designed to serve us, not to rule over us.
