Kirsten Gillibrand: Fighting for the American People

If you are a Democrat or an Independent; whether you consider yourself a liberal or a progressive, you are thankful for Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. However, the most consistent adversary against the party of hypocrites is the junior Senator from New York; Kirsten Gillibrand.

Some of you may remember that she was my choice for Hillary’s running mate in the 2016 election. She is intelligent, principled, and has never varied from her efforts to support the majority of the American people.

When you’re more obstructionist than Chuck Schumer, that speaks volumes,” said Jessica Proud, a spokeswoman for the New York Republican Party.

This statement may be the greatest endorsement any Senator who represents the American people could ask for. She has opposed nearly every nominee for Trump’s circle of sinners.

After Senator Gillibrand opposed the nomination of Secretary of Defense James Mattis, she offered an explanation.

Our American democracy was built around the concept of civilian control of the military,” she wrote. “New presidents are typically allowed latitude to appoint their cabinet members. But President-elect Trump is not entitled to ignore our laws and change the fundamental government constructs that have enabled our country’s success.”

Senator Gillibrand did vote for two of Trump’s nominees: Nikki Haley for Ambassador to the United Nations, and Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin, who won a unanimous vote.

Senator Gillibrand is not a ‘tool’ of the Democratic Party. She opposes amnesty for illegal immigrants, and has an “A” rating from the NRA.

Her cause has always been you and me. She obtained her seat when Hillary Clinton left to become President Obama’s Secretary of State.

Could Senator Gillibrand be the Democratic presidential nominee in 2020? She would receive my vote. I don’t agree with everything she supports, but her efforts for the majority of our nation’s 320 million people make her a ‘people’s champion.’ We desperately need someone who represents us in Washington.
