The most extremist of right wing politicians labeled more moderate Republicans “RINO” several years ago. The truth is that the entire party has moved too far right and are all Republicans In Name Only today. They have become radicals who deny the principles of their predecessors, including Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush. They are not fit to mention their names.
Noam Chomsky is a professor at MIT, and a leading activist for the working class. He also believes that the once Grand Ole Party no longer exists. “Republicans have just drifted off the spectrum,” Chomsky declared in response to a question about what the “antics” of Trump say about American exceptionalism.
Professor Chomsky stated that the 2016 Republican candidates lacked any resemblance to respected GOP presidents from the past.
“I think we should recognize that the other candidates are not that different,” from Trump, Chomsky offered. “If you take a look at—just take a look at their views. You know, they tell you their views, and they’re astonishing.”
With Trump as their leader, they have devolved further as the party of white supremacy, and bigotry. They have waged a war against women for decades, and they have begun new attacks against minorities, non-Christians, low-income, and impoverished Americans. The have lost all respect from intelligent men and women who remain patriotic to the America of our founding fathers.
“It is important to bear in mind that the Republicans have long abandoned the pretense of functioning as a normal parliamentary party. Rather, they have become a ‘radical insurgency’ that scarcely seeks to participate in normal parliamentary politics,” Chomsky stated.
Republicans have moved so far to the right that they have lost both their desire and their ability to deliberate the issues or to compromise. They have intentionally forgotten that the greatest successes made for the majority were accomplished by both parties working together to reach a law which would succeed in benefiting all Americans.
The primary reason why our government is dysfunctional today can be directly blamed upon the existence of lobbies. The great majority of the American people do not have lobbyists in Washington who line the pockets of politicians with tens of thousands of dollars. This is why Republicans support the NRA gun lobby, the Christian religious right, the major oil companies, pharmaceutical companies, the military industrial complex, and the large manufacturing businesses who are the largest polluters of our air, water, and soil.
We need two parties with different ideas about the needs of the majority of the American people. Today we have only one. This sounds nearly impossible to be true, but a fact cannot become an “alternative fact.” Since 2009, Republicans, under the failed leadership of Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, and Paul Ryan, do not have a single positive accomplishment to their credit. The party of ‘no’ attempted to destroy many of our beneficial laws and regulations, but failed to produce a single law which would serve all of the American people.
Under Trump’s rule, they have proven that they lack the ability to govern effectively. Sadly, with the aid of their propaganda machine, FOX Noise, radio personalities such as Laura Ingraham, Rush Limbaugh, and Alex Jones, millions of weak-mined Americans believe the constant lies from the right wing. It is Democrats who share the best interests of most Americans. Contrary to what these divisive men and women claim, they don’t want to take away guns and repeal the second amendment. They don’t want to remove your right to practice your faith, while protecting the rights of those of us who shun organized religion. They would not weaken our military, but they would hold the Pentagon responsible for billions of dollars wasted each year. Yes, they are pacifists first, because no one wins a war; the first choice must always be diplomacy, and not a rash decision to attack another nation with military weapons. Democrats do believe in social programs; placing people before the bloated profits of the one-percent. Finally, Democrats believe that all Americans should vote, and that eliminating the Electoral College would unify our nation once again. If there was no Electoral College, a Democrat would be residing in the White House today, and would have been living there since Bill Clinton’s first election.
Take your country back; but only if you believe in the real America of Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Madison, Lincoln, two Roosevelts, Eisenhower, Reagan, and Bush 41.
