Yesterday Trump made another unilateral decision which is not only questionable in itself, but will be controversial regarding its success. The largest bomb in the American arsenal is called MOAB; or “the Mother of All Bombs.” It is 30 feet long and weighs 22,000 pounds. The target was an estimated 600 to 800 ISIS fighters in Afghanistan who are believed to be hiding in caves.
The GBU-43 is a ‘Massive Ordinance Air Blast weapon.’ It is designed to spread flammable gas over a large area and then ignite it.
A spokesman for the Pentagon claimed that it was a decision made by them, and not by Trump. That’s a little difficult to believe. When he ordered the launch of 59 Tomahawk Cruise missiles, Trump acted as if he had discovered a new toy, and now he used the biggest toy available without the use of nuclear weapons.
How effective it was remains to be seen.
David Hambling, an independent munitions expert, said that in dropping MOAB, the military was hoping for “a combination of psychological and kinetic effects.”
“It’s not the obvious choice of weapon to destroy a cave complex,” Hambling told The Daily Beast. “It may generate a massive over-pressure causing lethal effects to some depth, but is much less obvious than weapons like the smaller thermobaric BLU-128, which is designed to take out tunnels and caves with blast.”
Naturally Trump boasted as if he was the one who dropped the bomb.
“We have the greatest military in the world and they’ve done their job as usual, so we have given them total authorization. That’s what they’re doing. Frankly, that’s why they’ve been so successful lately. If you look at what’s been happening over the last eight weeks and compare that with really what’s happened the last eight years, you’ll see there’s a tremendous difference.”
What the repercussions will be is anyone’s guess. But if America’s remaining forces come under attack by ISIS and are joined by the Taliban, it is logical to believe that we will soon be sending thousands of more men into harm’s way.
But Trump is not concerned, his degenerate family will not see battle. The only battle they ever had in their lives was to see who could spend the most money on unnecessary possessions.
Questions: What will be the reaction of Afghani leadership? Will our allies support Trump’s decision? I know he believes that we do not need partners but as always he is very mistaken.
When a man doesn’t know what he is doing, and takes action without great deliberation and sound advice, he is a fool; Trump is a dangerous fool.
Every day Trump surprises the American people in a manner which creates fear for our future; and he’s just beginning.
