For eight years President Obama was blamed for everything bad which happened around the world, but never praised for his successes by the right wing. In addition, Republicans refused to take blame for their own mistakes, or the extremely poor decisions of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.
Mr. Obama has been out of office for two-and-one-half months, and continues to be a scapegoat for the right.
Today Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad once again attacked his own people with lethal chemical weapons.
“Today’s chemical attack in Syria against innocent people, including women and children, is reprehensible and cannot be ignored by the civilized world,” Spicer said on Tuesday. “These heinous actions by the Bashar al-Assad regime are a consequence of the past administration’s weakness and irresolution.”
“President Obama said in 2012 he would establish a red line against the use of chemical weapons and then did nothing,” Spicer continued. “The United States stands with our allies across the globe to condemn this intolerable act.”
When Spicer speaks he is either lying or tells half-truths; this is a case of the latter. President Obama received little or no support from Republicans. His efforts to involve Russia, an ally of Syria, achieved some success, but without GOP support.
Breaking with both protocol and tradition, no statement was made by Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson.
What will be of interest is what action Trump and Bannon will take against Assad. They did nothing about the missile tests by North Korea, and because of their close relationship with Putin it is unlikely that they will offer nothing more than ‘lip service.’
Senator John McCain has rightfully criticized previous statements by the Trump administration related to the worsening situation in Syria.
“(Syrian President) Bashar Assad and his friends, the Russians, take note of what Americans say,” the Arizona Republican told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota on “New Day.” “I’m sure they took note of what our Secretary of State (Rex Tillerson) said just the other day that the Syrian people would be determining their own future themselves — one of the more incredible statements I’ve ever heard.”
“I’m sure they are encouraged to know the United States is withdrawing and seeking a new arrangement with the Russians,” he added. “It is another disgraceful chapter in American history and it was predictable.”
He is absolutely correct. When millions of ignorant and uninformed voters elected the worst possible and least qualified candidate in history, this is what we could expect.
Trump is an ‘equal opportunity’ fake-president; his policies, or lack of, are equally horrific both domestically and internationally.
Trump talks tough, but, like all bullies he is actually a coward. Now, instead of having extremely talented individuals such as Hillary Clinton or John Kerry as our nation’s diplomatic leaders, America is forced to endure Rex Tillerson who has no talent and no ability to speak for our nation and negotiate with the world’s leaders.
Our nation can only be called ‘a big mess,’ and it cannot be cleaned up as long as Trump is in office. His cesspool is larger and filthier than the former “swamp” Trump complained about for 15 months.
