If there is a single example of a serious mistake made by voters, it is Tom Cotton, the junior senator from Arkansas. He has made a fool of himself with traitorous and bigoted actions since he was sworn into office. Cotton has been a critic of Trumpcare since it was offered to Republican politicians, but not because he wants a good plan which will offer all Americans comprehensive healthcare; he wants to eliminate poor people from coverage.
Appearing with Jake Tapper on CNN, Cotton was questioned about the reduction of Medicare and Medicaid proposed by the Republican plan.
“They are saying, by removing the Medicaid expansion that happened during Obamacare, that helped provide insurance to 250,000 Arkansans, this replacement is going to take it away,” Tapper explained. “Does that concern you?”
This was a rhetorical question; Americans living in poverty do not contribute to reelection campaigns.
“Medicaid is a welfare program,” he said. “It’s primarily designed for the indigent, elderly, the disabled, the blind and children.”
“It’s not designed for able-bodied adults,” Cotton continued. “We want to get those people off of Medicaid, into a job and into market-based insurance.”
Cotton is denying the fact that there are few good paying jobs for Americans who have minimal education or experience. He lacks compassion for the poor, confirming his membership in the party of the wealthy.
Cotton is another Republican who is out of touch with the majority of the American people.
Yesterday I wrote an article about the ‘happiest people in the world.’ They don’t live in the United States; they live in Denmark. One of the reasons it is rated as the greatest nation in the world is the fact that every man, woman, and child has access to free healthcare, and free college education. Cotton and his cronies approve of throwing away money on military weapons and programs which frequently fail, but social programs, which benefit 320 million Americans, are forbidden. Only special interests receive the attention of GOP politicians.
Finally, let’s be honest here. The vast majority of the ‘able-bodied’ poor Cotton is referring to are minorities. Now that Republicans have a leader who is a white supremacist, they have become emboldened to openly display their party’s racism. This is not new, but with Trump in office, they have the full support of the White House for their bigoted words and actions.
If America is to become a great nation, it will not happen with Trump in office, or Republicans in control of the three branches of government.
I will continue to remind everyone that November 2018 is approaching more quickly than it seems. All 435 members of the House, and one-third of the Senate are up for reelection. Let’s rid our nation of the prejudiced Republican Party.
Please re-post; thank you.
