If one positive evolves from the most serious mistake America’s voters have ever made, it is the possibility that the GOP will implode, and they will lose elections in 2018 and 2020. Republicans cannot defend their support of Donald Trump, or the fact that they choose him instead of the needs and desires of the majority of the American people.
It is no surprise that the Affordable Care Act, and the expansion of Medicare, have become one of the crucial issues facing the Republican Party. Trump promised his supporters that he would “repeal and replace” the healthcare law, although nothing concrete has been proposed. More than 20 million Americans could be without healthcare, and thousands of those could die, or more correctly be ‘murdered,’ by Trump and his corrupt Republicans.
In the last two decades Republicans have established a policy of supporting special interests and their own ambitions over those of the American people. They ignore the polls and attempt to convince the American people that they are serving the majority.
Both Republicans and Democrats are fighting back. Town hall meetings and other gatherings held by Republican politicians are filled to maximum capacity. Most are shouting “do your job.” Voters want answers. Why hasn’t Trump been investigated for ethics violations? Why is one party eager to remove healthcare for millions of Americans, while legislators have the best medical care money can buy? Why hasn’t Trump released his tax returns? What is he hiding? What is the connection between Trump and Putin? Why did the GOP confirm Sessions, DeVos, Tillerson, Pruitt, and Mnuchin, when the America people know they will destroy the agencies they head?
So far, our nation remains the United States of America, and our government must serve us or we will remove them from their privileged lives. Our government does not ‘run’ our nation, the will of the people will prevail. If those in Washington choose not to abide by the rules, they can get out, or we will take them out.
Trump is mistaken; he believes that he is a king. He is a caretaker at best, and is not qualified to perform that function.
Our founding fathers, and Abraham Lincoln all predicted a Donald Trump. Their instructions were simple. They instructed the American people to depose any leader who failed to support the Constitution, and serve the American people to the best of his or her ability. Trump simply doesn’t give a damn. He is in office to advance his own ambitions, and for no other reason.
