You probably don’t know who Jason Chaffetz is. He is a Republican who chairs the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. He is responsible for wasting millions of dollars and countless hours investigating the tragedy in Benghazi. When he, like nearly everyone else in America, believed that Hillary Clinton would be our 45th president, he stated the following.
“It’s a target-rich environment,” he said in late October. “Even before we get to Day One, we’ve got two years’ worth of material already lined up.”
Of course he was talking about Hillary’s e-mails and other imagined violations.
When the Huffington Post asked him why he hasn’t begun investigations into Trump’s criminal past and numerous ethics violations, he was glib in his response.
“Give it a few days, for goodness sake!” Chaffetz told The Huffington Post this week. “All the flailing before he was even sworn in was a bit silly, if not purely immature.”
Okay, let’s tell the truth here. He will never investigate his fuhrer. Trump is a Republican.
Chaffetz has ambitions, and they lead to Pennsylvania Avenue. He will not challenge the other hypocrites in his party; he needs their support for 2020.
Trump should be behind bars, not sitting in his robe watching television in the White House. Chaffetz won’t be of any help. As Americans we must be grateful for organizations like the ACLU. They are challenging your illegitimate president.
It is highly doubtful that Chaffetz will perform his job with dedication; Republicans stand together, especially when they are wrong.
“Everything I’ve seen so far, doesn’t sound like he feels there is much to investigate,” the top Democrat on the oversight committee, Elijah Cummings of Maryland, told HuffPost this week.
“Before, he was saying he was waiting for him to get sworn in,” Cummings said. “He got sworn in. Then he said he was willing to give him a chance to get his cabinet set. So we’ll see.”
Don’t hold your breath.
