For those of you who may not be aware, one week and two days ago, American special forces executed a raid on an Al Qaeda compound in Yemen. The goal was to obtain intelligence information on computer hard drives, and any other available material. A major Al Qaeda leader was also expected to be in the compound. The raid was a total disaster.
This was not a hasty action by our military, it was months in the planning. It was not executed during the Obama Administration due to one critical component; it was to take place on a ‘moonless night.’ Therefore, it was handed over to Trump.
Normally operations of this magnitude receive a final ‘go ahead’ by the president on the day they are executed, when he is confident that the outcome will be successful. The president is joined in the White House Situation Room by the vice-president, the Secretary of State, members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Director of the CIA, and other experts with knowledge of the area involved. Once all parties are in agreement, the president gives the final order to begin the operation. This is not what happened with the raid on Yemen.
Trump approved the operation while at dinner. In attendance were Steve Bannon, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
As you might have surmised, the raid was a disaster. A firefight ensued, and not only were members of Al Qaeda killed; women and at least one child lost their lives. Our finest also experienced casualties; one Navy Seal lost his life, and three were wounded.
Even the leader of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula was critical of America’s new and illegitimate president.
“The new fool of the White House received a painful slap across his face.” This was the response of Qassim al-Rimi in and eleven-minute recording.
Of course al-Rimi exaggerated the number of American lives lost, but CNN is reporting that 23 civilians were killed in the exchange of lethal fire. al-Rimi was one of the targets in the failed operation.
Trump and his circle of sinners attempted to blame the failure on the Obama Administration, but in this case the use of “alternative facts” was not successful.
A man who knows nothing about the military, and international relations is our Commander-in-Chief, and controls the launch of nuclear weapons.
“God bless America;” we’re going to need it.
