Democrats must Adopt McConnell’s Disreputable Policies

McConnell

For eight years I have complained about the traitorous and racist actions of Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell. He became the primary reason that our government is dysfunctional immediately after President Obama’s inauguration in 2009.

He held a press conference and stated that Republicans in the Senate would do nothing, other than collect their paychecks, and insure that the President would serve only a single term. This was harmful to the nation and the American people, and was obviously an act proving that racism permeates the GOP.

However, if democracy is to be preserved and the destruction of the Constitution is to be prevented, Democrats must adopt McConnell’s disreputable policies; I’m not certain that my America can survive four years of the debacle which is Donald Trump; I know that eight years would destroy it.

Republicans kept McConnell’s promise for all eight years. The 114th congress will go on record as the least productive in America’s history. They also spent the least number of hours in Washington ever recorded.

Republicans do nothing with the exception of campaign and lie to the American people. They fail to respect the majority on several important issues. The polls show that the American people want to preserve a form of universal healthcare. They also want the minimum wage to be raised. On the issue of women’s rights, they believe that women must have equal protection in all areas. We support the right of all of our nation’s youth to seek and receive affordable college education. The wealthy must pay their fair share of taxes. America’s poor must receive assistance to rise from the depths of financial ruin. We also support a fair and just path to legal residence for nearly 12 million undocumented workers. The vast majority of Americans support same-sex marriage. We also support a woman’s right to decide what actions she may choose for her personal health. We support funding for Planned Parenthood.

But I keep hearing Republican politicians tell us that we don’t support these issues. Are they lying, or supporting special interests? Or is it both?

Democrats must unite and refuse to support any legislation which would harm the majority. We, the American people, must be vigilant and protect the rights of all Americans.

Most importantly, all 320 million of us must fight to protect the first amendment. Your new president hates free speech, and the importance of the right to vote. We need more Americans voting; no less.

Repeal the Electoral College.
