Any informed and intelligent American is fully aware that Donald Trump will be remembered as the worst president in our nation’s history. He is already an embarrassment to any America who loves his or her country. His decisions for his cabinet and advisory staff are both questionable and offer great danger to our democracy. Trump is not capable of making intelligent and rational decisions, and has not made a serious effort to perform the duties of our president. His lack of morality should prevent him from living in the White House.
However, I sincerely believe that Ted Cruz would have been even worse for the majority of the American people.
Cruz shares Trump’s arrogance, but his agenda would have been even more harmful. Cruz is also a racist, a bigot, a misogynist, and homophobic. While Trump believes that he is a god, Cruz is a religious extremist who would begin a war on all Muslim Americans.
If Trump’s lips are moving, he is lying. If Cruz is speaking, he is telling you what you want to hear; his only goal is the presidency.
Here’s where the two men are less similar. Cruz capitulated and agreed to serve Trump. He became an enormous hypocrite after Trump was nominated, although he previously denounced the most immoral man in America. He chose to forget that Trump virtually called his wife, Heidi, “ugly.” He also conveniently placed the fact that Trump falsely claimed that his father had aided Lee Harvey Oswald in his plans to kill John F. Kennedy somewhere in the fringes of his mind. Cruz cannot be trusted; he has no principles and no conscience.
This is what Cruz is up to today, as reported by the Huffington Post.
Cruz and Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) introduced the Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act in both chambers of Congress on Tuesday. In a press release, Cruz said that the brotherhood espouses “a violent Islamist ideology with a mission of destroying the West” and that formally designating them a terror group would “enable the U.S. to take action that could stifle the funding they receive to promote their terrorist activities.”
Muslim Americans are fearful that this is nothing less than a thinly disguised act which will be used against all those who practice Islam in our nation.
Immediately after the election, the number of hate crimes in our nation increased at a frightening percentage. One of the groups which has suffered greatly from the “Trump effect” are Muslim Americans.
Cruz’ alliance with the Christian religious right is un-Constitutional, and a reason to reject him for any public office. Like vice-president-elect Mike Pence, he places religion in a priority over our nation and its people. Religion has no place in politics, and as one of more than 65 million Americans who consider all religions to be cults, I reject any influence by any of these cults into my life.
Therefore, all things considered, I believe that Cruz would have been worse for the American people than Trump. Trump’s below average intelligence is frightening, but Cruz is a ‘man with a plan;’ and that plan would destroy democracy forever.
