Eight years ago this month, then Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell, stood before the American people and promised that the Republican Party would do nothing with the exception of insuring that Barrack Obama would be a one-term president. He kept the Senate from accomplishing anything of significance for all eight years of the Obama Administration.
Newt Gingrich’ entire political career was based on criminal action and philandering. He is a disgrace to politicians all over America. One of Trump’s biggest supporters, and a traitor to my America, Gingrich is now criticizing Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for considering the adoption of McConnell’s tactics. Republicans have announced that they plan to destroy all of the positive accomplishments of President Obama during the first year of Trump’s illegitimate presidency.
Schumer asserted on CNN “The only way we’re going to work with him [Donald Trump] is if he moves completely in our direction and abandons his Republican colleagues.”
Schumer is standing up for the majority, and denying special interests their control of America. But the always ignorant Gingrich claims that Schumer’s actions, which will mimic those of the GOP for the last eight years, will harm the Democratic Party. Really?
The truth is that Independents such as myself, and registered Democrats, will applaud some display of courage from progressives. We must be on the attack against Trump and his circle of sinners who plan to destroy democracy forever. We must not only fight against the extremists on the right, we must expose the media for its failure to be honest with the American people.
Republicans have announced that the first two items on their agenda is to eliminate healthcare for as many as 35 million Americans, and remove federal funding from Planned Parenthood. Polls reveal that the vast majority of Americans are opposed to these actions, but arrogant men such as Trump, McConnell, and Ryan don’t care what the American people want.
These are the types of things Democrats must fight for. Someone in Washington must support the will of the people and ignore special interests and their agents, the lobbyists, who attempt to circumvent the Constitution daily.
Gingrich is not only a ‘has-been,’ he is a ‘never-was.’ He is totally insignificant to the American political system. He should leave the American people alone and concentrate on his open marriage.
