Immediately after President Obama’s inauguration, Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell announced that senate Republicans would do nothing with the exception of ensuring that he would be a one-term president; he kept his promise to do nothing, but he lost the war. Democrats must follow McConnell’s example in 2017.
Not a single nominee for Trump’s cabinet is acceptable to the American people. They have two things in common; they are all unqualified and all have prejudices unacceptable to real Americans. Most also share a fact that the very departments they will represent are opposed to their personal ambitions.
My greatest fear comes from an article I read today; Ted Cruz is being considered for the empty seat on the Supreme Court. He is a religious extremist who is homophobic, a misogynist, and a racist.
Merrick Garland was a perfect choice; he is a greatly qualified judge who would be fair and protect the Constitution; Cruz would shred the law of the land.
Democrats must reject Trump’s ambition to destroy democracy in the United States. His circle of sinners will create a plutocracy, and a plutocracy can only be successful under a totalitarian rule such as fascism. The American people must stand up to the neighborhood bully and deny him his horrific view of “Trumpland.” We cannot allow Putin, Mercer, and Trump to shred the Constitution and remake a once respected nation into Nazi Germany of the 1930’s and 40’s.
Democrats must stand up for the people. For at least 16 years Republicans have taken a stand with the one-percent, the NRA, and the Christian religious right. We must take our country back and remove these special interests from power.
Although for eight years I railed against McConnell for his refusal to earn his salary, unlike Republicans, Democrats would be representing the vast majority of the American people, and rejecting a plutocracy.
