Nothing demonstrates the division within the Republican Party, and the American people more than the fight over Trump’s selection of Secretary of State. For me, the choice is clear. One possibility is a man who has proven diplomatic skills, and the other is a senile old man who’s anger is uncontrollable. But there I go being logical again.
Mitt Romney was a successful governor, and when he ran for the presidency, he didn’t yell and scream or personally attack his opponent. Giuliani followed Trump’s lead and used profane attacks to support his leader. Giuliani is a confirmed racist, whose temperament makes him unfit for such an important position in our government; which means that Trump will likely choose him.
The GOP is very divided about this issue. Sane Republicans support Romney, and Trump’s army of lunatics will only accept the worst possible choice.
Giuliani presents a dilemma. He has many close ties with foreign governments, including Iran where he supported a fringe element of the government. There are still questions undecided about his consorting with a terrorist group when he accepted money for speeches made for the Iranian; forbidden under U.S. federal law.
As Trump selects additional extremists for positions in his administration, the number of his detractors has greatly risen. They are unqualified, and some are billionaires. Most are considered “pay-backs” for support during his candidacy. He has surrounded himself with white supremacists, bigots, misogynists, xenophobes, and homophobes. His inner circle is filled with those who do not believe in my America. There is no doubt that Robert Mercer continues to pull Trump’s strings.
Trump has succeeded in only two things; dividing Republicans even further, and increasing the separation within the people of our nation.
With Trump as their standard bearer, the real Republican Party no longer exists. There will be no unity.
Our nation’s people are split because of Trump’s questionable win on November 8th. Less than half of our nation will support Trump, regardless of his mistakes and his traitorous actions. The majority will refuse to accept a Trump presidency, and as long as he resides in the White House, that will remain a fact.
The dream of our founding fathers lasted for 240 years; not bad! Fascism has arrived, and it has come from inside, aided by the relationship between Putin and Trump.
I’ll end this by once again offering the prophecy of Abraham Lincoln.
“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”
